African peoples, like the Mursi of Ethiopia and numerous peoples in Kenya, have depended on the Omo River for their existence. They now claim they will be ethnically cleansed and displaced by a government dam project and plans to use large swaths of land for corporate agriculture. We’ll talk with Lori Pottinger of the NGO, International Rivers. They’ve been monitoring the projects and spreading awareness about what they say are their potential environmental and humanitarian hazards.
