Swedish Elections: Large Gains Expected by Far Right

Sweden is in store for huge political upheaval as far right parties are expected to make large gains in parliamentary elections on Sunday. The Sweden Democrats, an anti-immigration, populist party has been gaining momentum, is expecting to gain dozens of seats in parliament. The party, which has been in power for the past fifty years, is polling at historic lows. If the Sweden Democrats win this will be a huge turning point for the country as Sweden was once seen as one of the most progressive, liberal countries in Europe. We’ll talk about Swedish politics with Lesli Nordstrom. While living and working in Sweden, she served in a number of political roles including president of the Liberal Party’s Stockholm youth organization.
