There was a time when musician Joe Grazulis thought he’d be anything but a musician. He went to film school, got his start as a musical director for Second City, and moved out west to pursue a career as a filmmaker. For him, music was an interest that he’d only ever considered as a hobby. That was until he finally realized that so much of what he was doing revolved around music, and that it’s what felt most fulfilling for him. A few years ago, Grazulis finally embraced his inner musician, and started the one-man band, The Film Society. He joins us to talk about his journey, and plays songs from The Film Society’s self-titled EP. The Film Society performs several shows, including tonight at 12 West in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, Thursday at Elbo Room in Lincoln Park and Sunday, June 2nd at Township in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood.
