‘Operation Derailed:’ Drug Bust On Amtrak Headed To Chicago

 A Federal drug bust uncovers a huge drug ring that allegedly used Amtrak to deliver its contraband to Union Station.

Twenty-four people are facing charges after the bust uncovered a huge drug ring that allegedly used the train line to deliver its contraband to Chicago’s Union Station. Authorities say traffickers transported large amounts of cocaine, heroin,and fentanyl from Los Angeles aboard Amtrak Express. 

Federal authorities say ‘Operation Derailed’ also netted weapons and more than $1.8 million in cash. The drugs were picked up at the station and sold throughout the Chicago area.
