Thursday is the last chance for state legislators to vote on school funding for the fiscal year that starts Friday.

Education activists from Chicago went to the block where Governor Bruce Rauner owns a home in north suburban Winnetka on Wednesday.

The activists, about a dozen of them, knocked on doors within a block or two of Rauner’s house, asking people to put in a neighborly word with the governor for more money for Chicago Public Schools

The governor has pledged to veto any legislation that includes extra cash for the city’s schools. At least a couple of Rauner’s neighbors agreed to get in touch with the governor.
