Family dynamics are nothing new for the stage. Pulitzer-Prize winning works like August: Osage County go deep into the resentment, anger and dysfunction that work their way into these relationships. It’s familiar terrain for playwright Stephen Karam. His play, Sons of the Prophet, exploring the impact of tragedy and misfortune on one family, was nominated for a Pulitzer in 2012. Karem’s tapped into similar themes with his latest work The Humans. The play’s run at American Theater Company ends on Thursday February 1.
