As a labor lawyer, Tom Geoghegan has seen the decline of unions, and the effect it’s had on his clients. In his new book, Only One Thing Can Save Us: Why America Needs a New Kind of Labor Movement, he argues that it’s about more than just the waning rights and decreased wages of those members, but points to a larger problem of a declining middle class. He says Baby Boomers are working longer with no retirement and younger workers are intimidated and lost in the current economy. Geoghegan joins us to share his argument on why labor is the answer to saving the shrinking middle class. Photo: Flickr/national museum of american history
