This year’s Venice Architecture Biennale will take place on May 26. It occurs every two years at the Venice Giardini. The official U.S. representation at the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale is co-commissioned by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Chicago. The U.S. Pavilion’s “Dimensions of Citizenship” exhibitions will explore the intersection of architecture and citizenship. It will feature “works by architects, landscape architects, designers, artists, and thinkers who are responding to today’s shifting modes of citizenship, and putting forth visions of future ways of belonging,” according to the exhibition’s website.

Worldview speaks with a curator at this year’s Biennale, Ann Lui, and a representative commissioner at this year’s Biennale, Jonathan D. Solomon.  Ann Lui is an Assistant Professor in Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Designed Objects at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a founding partner of Future Firm, a Chicago-based architecture and design research office. Jonathan D Solomon is Associate Professor and Director of Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Designed Objects at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
