The Great Chicago Fire is a source for stories and legends about the history of our city. It’s an important milestone; there was before the fire, and then after the fire. It was also an opportunity for renewal in the city, and a chance to re-build from the ashes. This Saturday, the Great Chicago Fire Festival celebrates the city’s willingness to come back from disaster with events including music, fireworks and fiery sculptures on the Chicago River. Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Commissioner Michelle Boone and Redmoon Theater Executive Artistic Director Jim Lasko organized the event, and offer us a sneak peek of what visitors can expect.
