Ald. Danny Solis is calling for an investigation of local and federal officials that raided a Pilsen mini-mart and detained an employee who is living in the country illegally.

Community activists say the incident violated the city’s Welcoming City Ordinance that shields residents from being questioned about their immigration status. Authorities said they raided the mini-mart because they suspected it was selling counterfeit clothing.

A Chicago Police spokesperson told Block Club Chicago that they’re “not happy about it and CPD will work with the city law department to explore what options are available to us as a city.”
