Protests continued Monday following the shooting death of 37-year-old Harith Augustus in the city’s South Shore neighborhood.

Augustus was fatally wounded Saturday evening after a brief encounter with officers on foot patrol. A Chicago police spokesman said he showed “characteristics of an armed person.”

Less than 24 hours after the shooting, the department released an edited 45-second video of body cam footage of the incident. Some residents called on Mayor Rahm Emanuel to resign.
