The World Health Organization ranks Delhi’s air pollution as some of worst in the world. In an effort to try to improve Delhi’s air quality, the University of Chicago’s Energy and Environment Lab is partnering with the Delhi Dialogue Commission to try to find innovative ways to tackle the problem. In December, they’re launching a crowdsourcing competition to try to find the best local ideas to improve Delhi’s air and water quality. The winning ideas will be tested by U of C researchers and Delhi policymakers. Michael Greenstone, Director of the Energy Policy Institute and Urban Labs’ Energy & Environment Lab at the University of Chicago and Anant Sudarshan, India Director of the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago, joins us to talk about how they believe the competition will help spark change in Delhi’s air quality.
