When you say Glenn Kotche is the drummer in Wilco, those in the know will snap, “Hey man, Glenn is not JUST a drummer!” And they’re right. Far from being a simple beatkeeper, Kotche has made his reputation as a “colorist”, someone who goes beyond the twos and fours to create sonic textures that set his music apart. He’s also a composer of modern works, combining percussion, electronics, and in the case of his latest album Adventureland, strings. We talk to the multi-talented artist about the album and his upcoming residency at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
