By Morning ShiftDonald Trump has taken a hardline stance on immigration throughout his campaign, from insisting on building a wall on the border between the US and Mexico to promising to deport 11 million immigrants. In recent weeks, however, he’s faced criticism that he is “softening” his position on immigration as he struggles to move to the middle and gain voter support. He met with President Pena Nieto of Mexico Wednesday afternoon, then gave a major speech on immigration later that night.
The Morning Shift wondered: what exactly is Donald Trump’s immigration policy: how much of it is different from the current administration’s, and how much could he actually put into effect if he were president.
