Many media outlets framed the 2018 midterm elections as a referendum on President Donald Trump. Two years into a presidency marked by racist incidents, and the “Me Too” movement, analysts predicted a “Blue wave”, led by non-white male candidates and voters. Despite apparent wins for diversity, every branch of government still lacks demographic parity with the populations they serve. Today, Worldview asks two experts to elaborate on whether last night’s elections should matter to marginalized communities. We’re joined by Terrell Jermaine Starr, senior reporter at The Root.
