ByScattered activists come together for Global Climate Action Day
ByTomorrow, September 24, the climate change community is coming together for Global Climate Action Day. Activists are trying to make sure that, at the end of the day, world leaders get the message loud and clear that citizens are restless for new policies.
The organization 350, founded by Bill McKibben, has 2,000 events planned in major cities around the world. In Cairo, hundreds will rally in blue clothing, creating a human Nile river, urging leaders to protect precious water resources. In São Paulo, hundreds of cyclists will take to the streets to demand sustainable urban transportation. And in New York, thousands will bike to U.N. headquarters to call for a global climate treaty.
We talk to Jason Kowalski, global policy director of 350, about tomorrow’s events and the larger climate change movement.
