Chile recently became the first country in South America to approve a carbon tax. The tax works to cut emissions from both industrial plants and cars. The country also has plans in the works for solar and wind energy. Marcelo Mena, Vice Minister of the Environment for the Chilean Government, is leading the push for sustainability both at his job and in his personal life.
