River towns in Lake County were hit hard by flooding this week as more than seven inches of rain fell in a short period Tuesday night into Wednesday.

While the rain has stopped, the flooding has not, and it could get worse before the Des Plaines river and other waterways crest over the weekend. According to the Associated Press, forecasters say flooding in north-suburban Chicago could worsen over the weekend as water flows down rivers into the state from Wisconsin.
