A Chicago police officer is recovering after being shot in the hand Wednesday night. The shooting is one of 20 incidents so far this year in which people fired at police. Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson says an increase in anti-police rhetoric in the past two years has in part caused the increase. There were 26 incidents last year, compared to just 11 in 2015.
