An internal study by the Pentagon revealed it could save up to $125 billion by improving efficiency through streamlining business operations and overhead.

A Washington Post report this week said the Defense Department suppressed the study. A Pentagon spokesman responded, “Any suggestion the report has been suppressed by the department is false.”

We talk about the study and the prospects for change at the Pentagon with William Hartung, director of the Arms & Security Project at the Center for International Policy. He is author of the book Prophets of War: Lockheed Martin and the Making of the Military-Industrial Complex. Hartung’s most recent article in The Hill is “Pentagon’s suppressed waste report only tip of the inefficient machine”.
