Two web-based research and technology companies, CollegeNET and PayScale, have collaborated to create a new measurement system they’re calling the “Social Mobility Index for U.S. Higher Education”. The SMI evaluates and ranks American colleges and universities in terms of their success in preparing low-income students with the skills to compete for high-paying jobs after graduation.
