Days after Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, Chicagoan Sonia Negrón Bell raced to the island to rescue her elderly and sick parents. Her story was recently featured in The Wall Street Journal. We spoke to Negrón Bell, a graduate student and intern at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, just as she was heading back to check on her parents and help as many people as possible. She’s back from Puerto Rico to update us on how the recovery is going.
