Five top staff members could soon be out at Cook County’s chaotic Juvenile Temporary Detention Center.

In the past, the center has faced allegations of unsafe conditions, and the abuse of residents.

And, the American Civil Liberties Union sued over conditions at the facility in 1999.

The man in charge at the facility will be J.W. Fairman, who ran the Cook County Jail in the 1990s.

And more recently, he was head of the county’s bureau of Public Safety, which oversees the youth jail.

In his first broadcast interview since being named to head the facility, J.W. Fairman vowed to get back to the basics.
