Two armed security guards are patrolling the streets in the Loop, between Wacker Drive and Congress Parkway. The increased security was hired by the Chicago Loop Alliance, an advocacy group for the area’s businesses. The security guards, otherwise called “street ambassadors”, were added to supplement police presence in the downtown business district, but some advocates for the homeless have concerns about how their presence will impact the area’s homeless population. Morning Shift talks to Chicago Loop Alliance CEO and president Michael Edwards, for more on the “street ambassador” initiative.
