The demand from parents for afterschool programs in Illinois still greatly exceeds what is provided. In a study conducted by the Afterschool Alliance, 18 percent of kids in the state participate in an after school program, yet 41 percent would be enrolled in one if it were available. Jodi Grant, Executive Director of the Afterschool Alliance, joins us to talk about the “America After 3pm” study and why developing quality afterschool options are crucial to our kids academic success.
