Activists say federal immigration enforcement illegally profiled Latino day laborers in a raid on Friday. 

Several men say they were at Belmont and Milwaukee Avenues around noon when immigration enforcement authorities pulled up in a Ford Explorer and demanded to see the men’s IDs. They also checked some of their fingerprints. 

ICE’s office in Chicago confirmed that it detained three people, and later released one, but said the operation targeted “specific gang members.”
