Illinois U.S. Senator Dick Durbin says addiction treatment centers like Chicago’s Haymarket are a victim of the state’s budget crisis. Durbin toured the center with U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy to highlight the need for more money for addiction services.

Haymarket recently cut a detox program which serviced around 20 people because of a lack of funding.

The head of Haymarket says they’re expecting about a million dollars from the state’s stop-gap budget. However, they aren’t sure what they’ll get after the interim budget expires in December.
