The city is well behind the stated goals of Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
Though Mayor Lightfoot boasted that she was the first mayor to address the lead water pipe crisis, the replacement process is behind schedule. Advocates say this leaves residents vulnerable to brain-damaging lead in the water supply and that filters should be provided as the process continues.
