Summer school is in session — but many kids aren’t sure they want to go.

Following a year of schooling disrupted by the pandemic, parents want their kids to keep learning over break. But they also want them to have some fun again.

Meanwhile, some kids are relearning how to be in school and around other students.

WBEZ’s Susie An visited a summer school in suburban Lombard that is trying something different.

Students are taking a music mania class, learning how to make a podcast (about the pandemic, of course) and taking a class that’s a little more exciting than regular math called “mathnasium.”
