The algae bloom problem isn’t a problem right here in Lake Michigan. That’s mainly because most of the region’s runoff flows into the rivers, not the lakes. From there it heads south to the Mississippi, which drains into the Gulf of Mexico. But the Chicago River has its own issues with runoff.
