Bruce Iglauer has been swimming against the tide for some time. As the founder and owner of Chicago’s Alligator Records, Bruce has been able to survive, but thrive during four-plus decades in a business that’s seen most of the little guys either die out or be swallowed by one of the big conglomerates. Bruce is being honored for that work Thursday when the American Association of Independent Music gives him their Libera Lifetime Achievement Award in New York. We revisit a story from a few years ago on the occasion of Alligator’s 40th anniversary.
