Edwin Chota, a Peruvian activist, was found murdered along with three others outside their village near the border between Peru and Brazil. The native rights and environmental activist had received numerous death threats from illegal loggers in the area because of the work he was doing to try to stop them. We’ll discuss the issues surrounding land rights and illegal logging in Peru with David Salisbury, a professor of geography and the environment at the University of Richmond, and a friend of the late Edwin Chota.
