The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, is now a Pulitzer Prize winner.
Franklin on Wednesday became the first woman to win a special citation award for her “indelible contribution to American music and culture for more than five decades.”
It was a posthumous honor. Franklin passed away in August at the age of 76.
After her death, Morning Shift sat down with three Chicago musicians: jazz singer Tammy McCann, soul and jazz singer Lili K, and “Rock N’ Soul” artist Krystal Metcalfe to hear what Aretha Franklin meant to them.
