At this very moment a group of Syrians and Americans are gathered in front of the White House. For 72 hours, they plan to read the names of the more than 100,000 Syrians who have been killed over the past three years. The list of names includes people who were killed by all forms of violence. Organizers hope the memorial will shed new attention on the conflict in Syria, which the UN this week has called “one of the most dangerous places in the world for children.” Lina Sergie Attar is in Washington and is reading the names of the dead. She joins us to discuss Syria’s ongoing humanitarian crisis. Hana Homs (this is a pseudonym she is using to protect her family in Syria) also joins us to tell us the story of one of those Syrians who has lost their life in the conflict.
