Chicago-based group Funkadesi fuses Bollywood, reggae, funk, and Afro-Caribbean music, and will celebrate its 21st anniversary this weekend. The band collaborates with varied groups to use music as a vehicle for community healing and building.
“Some of the things that we learn as musical lessons are also life lessons,” Funkadesi founder Rahul Sharma says.
To discuss the role music plays in bridging divides, we’re joined by Dr. Sharma, a licensed clinical psychologist.
Global citizen Nari Safavi will also clue us into more global events to check out this weekend.
