Iraqi forces have captured a key town in Western Mosul as they continue to push to retake control of the entire city from ISIS. The Iraqis are fighting side by side with US military advisors, placing American troops closer to the front lines.

As the fighting intensifies, President Trump selected Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, an Iraq war veteran who helped lead the “surge” under President Bush, as his new national security advisor. We talk about the fighting in Iraq and McMaster’s experience there with Laith Saud, a visiting professor at DePaul University.
