Autism spectrum diagnoses among children have jumped from one in 150 in 2000 to one in 88. While a host of resources exist for minors, that support dries up when autistic kids become adults. Chicago magazine executive editor Cassie Walker Burke wrote about the transition in the latest edition of the magazine. She stops by to examine the issue, along with Linda Stern, a Wilmette parent whose 26-year-old autistic child found work at a bank, and Maurice Snell, a spokesman with autism for the advocacy group Easter Seals.
