The 32nd Annual National Black Storytelling Festival and Conference takes place in Chicago this year. The four-day event features speakers, storytellers, poets, musicians and more-all coming together to share, preserve and move forward the rich heritage that is the African Oral Tradition. This year, it’s a family affair, with the Lansana family taking center stage. Poet Quraysh Lansana will be presenting a workshop, his wife Emily is one of the featured speakers and their son Onam will be the youngest presenter in the history of the festival. Emily and Onam Lansana join us to talk about the family’s deep ties to the festival and to the National Association of Black Storytellers.
