Chicago-based Boeing Company could win a public-relations victory on Friday against one of its rivals—Airbus, headquartered in France.

The World Trade Organization is expected to release a new report that finds European countries have illegally subsidized an Airbus passenger jet. It’s an accusation Boeing has been making for years against Airbus. The Airbus A350 is a competitor to Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner. Scott Hamilton is with the aviation consulting firm Leeham Company. He believes tomorrow’s report from the World Trade Organization is good news for Boeing.

HAMILTON: They would have a great PR victory that could be used to try to convince the Europeans not to provide launch aid for Airbus’ newest proposed airplane, the A350.

Officials from Boeing were not immediately available to comment for this story.
