Chicago’s breakfast queen to step down after 33 years: Ina Pinkney has announced that she will close her restaurant Ina’s by the end of the year. The 70-year-old restaurateur is known for her bubbie-like warmth, delicious baked goods and heavenly hots pancakes as well as pioneering restaurant policies that included banning cell phone use and smoking in the dining room and removing transfats from her menu. She founded the Green Chicago Restaurant Coalition, ran as a write in candidate for Mayor and campaigned as a write in “short order” candidate to fill in Barack Obama’s senate seat.
