Burlesque or stripping: The politics of nudity
Is burlesque stripping? According to the city, the answer is “maybe.” The Department of Business Affairs hasn’t granted a license to the owners of the new Uptown Underground Theater, with the idea they can’t serve alcohol if there’s nudity.
