Candidates For State’s Attorney Debate How To Assign Special Prosecutors

Talking to the Chicago Tribune editorial board, Democratic nominee for Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx says a special prosecutor should be assigned to all police-involved shooting cases to remove politics from the process. 

Republican candidate Christopher Pfannkuche agrees, but says there should be a state law outlining the process. Pfannkuche also suggested an independent unit that would have to answer to the State’s Attorney’s office. 

An independent prosecutor was recently assigned to the Laquan McDonald shooting case.
