We at WBEZ say farewell and thank you to our friend and colleague Cecilia Vaisman. 

Cecilia died September 27th of cancer. She was 54. She was a remarkable audio documentary producer, reporter and editor. In recent years, she taught those crafts as a professor of journalism at Northwestern University. 

Among Cecilia’s many friends is Alex Kotlowitz, who collected memories from some of Cecilia’s co-workers and long-time friends, and shared his own thoughts. You can hear those in the audio piece above.  We also include samples of audio work Cecilia had her hand and heart in.
