The Center on Halsted hosted a job fair on Friday to connect LGBTQ applicants with companies that want to be more inclusive in their hiring.

Seventy businesses set up at the fair, ranging from local companies to Fortune 500 corporations.

Tracy Baim is publisher of Windy City Times, which helped organize the event. She says Illinois law protects against discriminatory hiring, but that doesn’t mean members of the LGBTQ community have an easy time finding jobs in Chicago.

Baim says hosting the fair at the Center on Halsted is a way for participating companies to publicly show their support.
