The Vatican is signaling a possible relaxing in the Roman Catholic church’s attitudes toward homosexuality and the sanctity of marriage. They just issued a document Monday that calls on pastors to recognize the “positive aspects of civil unions and cohabitation.” They also said gays and lesbians had “gifts and qualities to offer.” Dennis Coday, Editor at National Catholic Reporter, discusses why this is considered such a big deal, and what this could mean for Catholics.
