Former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres is perhaps best known for his involvement in the Entebbe rescue operation or the Oslo Accords, or for filling nearly every position in Israeli public life. His son Chemi Peres, now 60, aims to leave his own mark, though. As the chairman of the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, founded by his father, Chemi Peres this week signed a memorandum of cooperation between the center and the City of Chicago, along with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The partnership will focus on “technology and innovation ecosystems,” building on the Peres Center’s work in the areas of  sports, leadership and entrepreneurship, health, business and environment. Chemi Peres is a managing general partner and co-founder of Pitango Venture Capital, the largest venture capital fund in Israel. He is also chairman of the Al-Bawader Investment Fund, Israel’s first investment fund focused on Israel’s minority sectors.
