Co-founder Justin Hamer says people sign up to cook 6 dollar dishes. Chicago has a history of legal issues with small food businesses, like scrutinizing food truck operations or licensing shared kitchens for business activity. Hamer says people using Shmeal agree to the risks associated with buying from a home cook.
