Imagine this scenario:  You’re running late to work. The bus is taking forever, but the walk is too long. What if you could just grab a bike from a bike stand?

That’s the ideal scenario for Ben Gomberg, bicycle program coordinator for the city’s department of transportation.

“We’re trying to get people actually that dont bike, that aren’t the urban warriors,” Gomberg said. “[Peorple] that want to go slowly and wanna just say hey, this is a better way to start or finish my trip.”

Chicago’s Bike Share Program is scheduled to start with 300 stands in the spring, and it could expand from there.

Riders will pay $7 dollars/day or $75/year for unlimited rides.

Gomberg says the department is seeking public input on the best locations for the bike stations, either at the public meetings taking place this week or on their website.
