The Chicago Board of Education voted in favor of a school reconstruction proposal.[pdf] But the plan didn’t pass without a few adjustments and plenty of criticism.

There was a lot of frustration vented at yesterday’s Board meeting.

CUT: If you could just do me a favor before my head explodes, stop saying ‘dramatically better’ because you’ve made the phrase completely meaningless.

The district altered recommendations for six schools and completely crossed Abbott Elementary off the list. But people continued to criticize the Board for not listening to the communities affected by the changes, or involving them in the process. Board President Rufus Williams defended CPS.

WILLIAMS: There were voices that were being heard. There’s no reason to believe that they were not.

The reconstruction is scheduled to be completed by next fall.
