A group of Chicago teenagers are working on an app that maps out routes around violent areas. The “Stay Safe” app combines data from the city of Chicago and Google Maps to create a path home that avoids areas where there were recent shootings. The teenage developers unveiled the app at this week’s Rainbow Push Convention. They say they’ll need cooperation from the Chicago Police Department to get real time data. They hope to beta test the app in the Fall.
